Core Minutes 9/29/2015
ScienceTools: (Jim) No news, but would like to know status of tip and externals. (Joe) Concerning tip: he has put in a change to disable the the problematic test program(s?) pending installation of a real fix. He's hoping to get to the fix within a couple weeks.
Externals: (Heather) is still on the hook for ROOT. Python has been updated and includes the pmw module as requested. Jim has also requested gsl (JIRA EXLIB-18). That is underconsidertaion, but should be possible now that we have dropped Windows support.
Healpix: (Joe) is having problems with the healpix external. (Heather) She and Eric introduced it some months back along with wcslib. They are proper external libraries, included with ST builds since ScienceTools-10-01-00. Since no one has complained until now she was unaware of any problems. (Jim) will get together with Joe and Eric to sort this out.
Mac: (Joe) Is there any development going on for Mac? Does SLAC support newer versions of the OS? (Richard) Short answer: no. We make RM builds only for MountainLion. (Elizabeth) FSSC no longer supports ML because it's too old. (Jim) has not been doing any mac-based development. He'd like to, but has no access. Can we get a platform running a modern mac OS? (Richard) Buy you a laptop? (Jim) I guess, but is that the best solution? RM builds would also be good, but secondary to just having access to a development platform.
