Core Minutes 7/29/2014
ScienceTools: (Jim) There is a new tag, 09-34-01, incorporating changes ince July 1.
See also Science Tools Development Notes.
FSSC: (Joe) Working on debugging the orbitSim package.
Note for Heather: mavericks build failed in scipy.
Reprocessing: (Tom G.) All quiet at the moment. There will be another Pass8 backfill between now and the Symposium in mid-October. It will cover the period from April to mid-July.
Hardware and such: (Richard) New servers have arrived and are installed. Still waiting for disks. Meanwhile, they are on loan for a month to Computer Center for tests with gpfs, possibly including layering xrootd on it.
Purchase order for VMware license is in progress. This will be used to for a mavericks VM on the new Mac (host will continue to run Mountain Lion).
(Tom G., Richard) User disk is still under some stress though no crashes have occurred recently. Richard will send out a disk etiquette reminder.
Pass8: (Leon) Not much to report since he has been out of town and missed the last two C&A meetings. He's about to launch a bad-strips calibration.
Mac (Heather) Eric C. is now interested in building ST from source locally on his own machine. Words of wisdom from Tom S. have been relayed: use MacPort to install same version of gcc used natively on rhel6.
Builds on the old snow leopard machines (bldmacs) have been turned off. (Joanne updated the RM database as specified in instructions from Tom S.) In fact, the machines themselvs have been turned off. (Tom G.) Nagios has been advised that the bldmac machines are gone.
(Richard) The Mac gui installer problem is still with us and there is little or no chance that Tony J. will have time to look into it. Joanne is the most natural alternate candidate, once she is fully awake.
GR (Heather) is making a rhel6 build to be used in a comparison with rhel5 build.
