LCB Transmit Service (Animation)

Description

The LCB Transmit Service handles requests to forward packets via the LCB. LAT internal-message protocol packets are forwarded to tasks on other CPUs. CCSDS packets, preceded by a framing word, are forwarded to the Solid State Recorder on the spacecraft.

All CPUs are able to use the (asynchronous) "event" path. In practice, only the SIU talks to the LAT instrument, using the (synchronous) command-response path.

The LCB Receive Service supports two data paths:

  • A Source Task sends a message to the LCB Transmit Service, which forwards it to the input side of the LCB. The LCB passes the message to the Event Builder, which forwards it to the output side of the LCB. The LCB Receive Service forwards the message to a Destination Task.

  • The LAT Instrument sends a message to the Event Builder, which forwards it to the output side of the LCB. The LCB Receive Service forwards the message to a Destination Task.
