Core Minutes 12/16/2014
ScienceTools: (Jim)
Jim has been in discussions with Matthew and Philippe concerning changes for ST to support the Pass 8 irfs for the public release. There will be interface changes to a few tools such as gtselect and gtdiffrsp to allow users to choose among the different event_type partitions for irf handling. Hoping this will be done before the end of year, with a new tag within the first 2 weeks of January. Jeremy and Andy Smith will visit the third week of January to work on a high level scripting interface for the tools to make it easier for users. Hopefully this will be ready by early February.See Science Tools Development Notes for details.
FSSC: (Joe) The FSSC is continuing to discuss the LAT's (aka Heather) desire to move to the Anaconda python distribution. Joe will be meeting with Dave Davis. Currently, the FSSC accesses the SAS python distribution and does not wish to become dependent on a pre-built distribution. Joe will provide further details after their discussion.
Hardware: (Tom) Wilko found time to set things up so that Science groups can provide r/w access to certain parts of xrootd directly. Large data sets can be stored across servers. This will go into production after some additional testing. The new servers are also ready for prod. The next step will be to move files in the existing xroot cluster onto the new server - possibly this week, next week, or after the holidays.
Richard asked about the status of mixing NFS and xroot on the new server. Tom reports that this is still in the cards, but experiments have yet to be done. The details are still being worked out.
Finance Committee: (Richard) Last Friday was the IFC meeting, no issues with the requested budget. The plan is to purchase 2 servers and one dev Oracle server. Additionally, there will be a replacement for the 2 windows front end servers for glast-ground (glast01 and glast02). Lastly, the budget includes paying for the SeeVogh license.
GR, 64-bits and new GR-20-10-00 (Heather) A new GlastRelease-20-10-00 was tagged and built. This new release just incorporated the new EbfWriter and CalRecon tags requested. Testing is ongoing. There are also planned updates to the externals: ROOT,python, cfitsio, and ape. Additionally, there are some updated tags in the shared packages like astro, etc, which need to be understood and cleared with the P8 folks.
glastlnx07 (Heather) No recent progress. Yemi is desperate enough to push this along that he is now volunteering to help.
