Core Minutes 11/5/2013
ScienceTools: (Jim) No code updates this week. He has a meeting with Matthew tomorrow concerning Pass8
L1 Pass7 reprocessing goes live today; ST is ready.
FSSC: (Joe) No news.
Pass7 reprocessing: (Tom G.) Is done as scheduled. Expect final backfill will take 2-3 days.
Pass8 reprocessing: (Tom G.) The first block, up through June, 2013, is nwo 94% complete.
Pass8 development (Tracy) There will be a meeting later this morning to finalize the contents — in particular, job options for simulations — of the new GR buils, 20-09-05. Most likely it will be ready to launch by the end of this week.
Now that the Pass7 switchover is accomplished we can refocus on Pass8 performance. For example, it appears we are not using the best possible calibrations.
(Richard) Is Pass8 rhel6-ready? (Heather) It builds on rhel6, but needs to be validated. The upcoming tag might be a good choice for beginning the process.
Hardware: (Richard) The new 350 Tbyte xroot server, xrd12, is up and running, giving us a total of over 500 Tbytes.
glastlnx to fermilnx migration: (Tom G.) Retiring glastlnx07 takes more care than most of the other glastlnx machines because people would log into it directly for various reasons, so there may be scripts, etc., with that name hardcoded. One of services it provides is access to our CVS repository. Anyone who uses CVS remotely will have files in the CVS subfolder of each regular content folder containing a file Root with the host name. [(Joanne) However, those who followed the recommended practice of using the alias centaurusa should not need to take any action. The new Fermilnx VM will inherit the alias.]
ISOC functions ahve migrated to the fermilnx machines, as have many pipeline services.
GR tags (Heather) GR-20-09-05 imminent.
RM work (Tom S.) freshly returned from vacation has no news to report yet.
