Core Minutes 7/30/2013
ScienceTools: (Jim) tagged ST release 09-32-05 at the request of FSSC.
There have been reports of a memory issue with gtmodel. He'll look into it.
As always, see also Science Tools Development Notes for details.
FSSC: (Joe) Working with the new release; no other news at this time.
SCCS Meeting: (Tom G., Heather) LSF 9 conversion is on track for Aug. 5. Neither redhat 5 nor Windows machines will be supported, so builds on those platforms need to move to Jenkins. We could trigger manually temporarily if Jenkins builds aren't working in time.
A new version of Confluence will be rolled on Aug. 3 (this Saturday). It does not include a wiki mark-up view by default. You can try it out at the test site. See also a list of known issues.
Reprocessing: (Tom G.) No Pass7 news. For Pass8 there is good news and bad. The good news is we just passed the 20% point, somewhat ahead of schedule, thanks to new powerful machines in the batch queue. The bad news is that there has been a disaster of one sort or another about every other day, usually in the morning. One happened today and as a result there are 40,000 failed jobs which need to be rolled back and rerun.
Pass8: (Tracy) The out-of-world-volume problem is still with us. It only affects a very small percentage of events so is not urgent, but it would be nice to really fix it. TkrValsTools now (as of GR 20-09-01) detects and handles the exception, but in this circumstance Acd code leaves some values in the TDS uninitialized, which can cause a crash further down the road. Eric Charles has tagged a fix [included in today's new GR, 20-09-02]. However this doesn't fix the underlying problem of the out-of-world-volume. In the meantime, we need to check the status bit that TrValsTools sets when this failure occurs.
Overlays (Leon) The pipeline task which skims overlay events works! There may be results to talk about at the C & A splinter of the Collaboration Meeting.
RM (Jim) would like to increase the time limit for the ST unit test step on rhel5. It's been timing out regularly in RM builds.
New SConsFiles tag (Joanne) In the past, if you tried to use the same source tree for builds on different OSes (e.g., rhel5 and rhel6) the second one could fail because all SCons bookkeeping for the externals tests which happen at the start of a build was kept in the same directory. The new tag writes such output to an OS/compiler-specific directory.
Calibration (metadata) copier (Joanne) has written a program in the rdbModel package to copy a list of calibration entries to new entries with a different specified flavor. It needs a little polishing before it's tagged.
