Core Minutes 10/05/2010ScienceTools: (Jim) eliminated an unnecessary secondary file in the process of making FT1. He also helped Julie with a new python script for dataclean. He'd like to see event-by-event comparison to make sure it's working properly.
Reprocessing: (Tom G.) A new reprocessing is gearing up. This is a Pass6-based generation of FT1 and LS1 files (P116) with the addition of a new 'dataclean' event class. The plan is to reprocess all data up through, say, 30 Sep 2010 and then perform a backfill once Level 1 updates its own code to produce the same set of event classes. All of the reprocessed files are destined for the FSSC. Currently, there is a problem with makeFT1 in that the new event classifier script is failing. The symptom is that if the classifier script requires and "import" statement, it would fail. Closer inspection revealed that the embed_python package may have lacked an important build option (SCons build). Investigations still underway. (Tom is heading off to the wilds of Southern California for a week starting tomorrow, so this reprocessing project might be delayed.)
FSSC: (Eric W.) has finished porting v9r18p4; Jeremy is testing it.
(Richard) Ready for data products? (Tom S.) Yes.
Pass8: (Leon) is still working on incorporating cosmic ray code, having run into some problems. (Tracy) Ongoing work on calorimeter clustering may be ready soon.
Documentation: (Chuck) sends the following:
The new section of the workbook should be posted to the web and ready for review by this time next week. A number of the updates to that section will also apply to some of the end-user pages, and the pages in the new section were designed with that in mind. Work is just starting on the event viewers, so if anybody has information re: either Fred or Wired, I'd appreciate your letting me know. Next up on the "ToDo" list will be updates to the ScienceTools section, and combing through the end-user sections of the WB for outdated material. Other than that, the next NL is scheduled to hit the streets on the 29th of this month, and I think Rob would like a new display for the main entrance.
Communications (Heather) There is a new RM mailing list, to be used for discussions relating to either CMT or SCons RM, for example the recent loss (again!) of key files on the Z: drive belonging to the glast account.
There is now a JIRA SCons project with two subprojects so far. Please post issues here rather than sending email to some random collection of people.
New Windows box (Richard) ..is here, to be delivered to the Computer Building. The plan is to use it for SCons builds since it probably won't have the 2003 compiler.
tip fix (Heather) As of last week, James Peachey had committed an update to address problems Toby had seen with the VS 2008 compiler. Toby still saw a failure, though not immediately. Heather tried to reproduce it, in order to provide more debugging information to James but, lo and behold, it worked! We're hoping the problem Toby saw was a consequence of something peculiar to his environment.
Snow Leopard (Tom S.) We're still waiting for SCS to make a suitable queue. Meanwhile, he is making progress on Snow Leopard builds of RM tools.
Other SCons news (Joanne) The new setup-file-creating code is in production and not causing any obvious problems. [Except for the one Heather noticed later this morning. bin directories of externals, such as the ROOT bin directory, were not making it into the PATH variable on Windows. This has now been patched. ed] She has been splitting time between Windows — working on getting SCons-built GR test programs, in particular test_OnboardFilter, to run — and new Gaudi on Linux. Heather plans to merge her Gaudi updates into a branch along a new GR tag which will already have updates necessary for SCons. This will give Joanne a testbed for developing rootmap creation under SCons.
GuiSvc is a troublemaker. In its current configuration it is compatible neither with the new Gaudi nor with SCons.
