Core Minutes 8/11/2015
ScienceTools: (Jim) No development news. There is a JIRA (LK-103) describing a problem with the optimized build on Yosemite. (Alex) tried a suggestion from Johann; it didn't fix it. For the time being they can work around the problem by using an older compiler. (Jim) How about disabling optimization only around the problematic code? (Alex) had that on his list of approaches to try. (Alex didn't comment on the JIRA itself because he is apparently lacking required privilege or group membership. That will be addressed.)
See Science Tools Development Notes for current activity.
FSSC: (Joe) is looking into tip issues. Would it be reasonable to change the complaints about checksums to just warning? (Jim) would first like to know why James Peachey put that code in.
Reprocessing: (Tom) No news.
Hardware: (Tom) No news here either. (Richard) Is it still the case that one of the new gpfs boxes is not online? (Tom) Yes. Wilko needs to run a new redirector with a new configuration; this has to be checked out. (Richard) Still haven't closed loop with Computer Center over tape drives: in order to pay the share asked of us we'll have to defer something else.
Externals (Heather) has made LATEST builds of GR and ST using the new versions of ape and cfitsio. There have been some issues with the builds (e.g. not all tarballs being created) but they won't interfere with exercising the new builds. Heather would like to make new HEAD builds using these externals. (Jim) suggests we hold off until the tip issue discussed earler is resolved. (Heather) Ok.
rhel5 (Heather) It appears we can drop rhel5 builds for ST and GR. L1 has moved to rhel6; it's unlikely we have any rhel5 users. CHS still has to run on rhel5, but it doesn't need ROOT (or various other externals required by ST or GR), so the externals support burden would lighten significantly.
