Core Minutes 8/2/2011ScienceTools: (Jim) No ScienceTools news; decision about what exactly should go in the Diffuse external is still pending.
FSSC: (Eric W.) Just finished last tweak to ScienceTools distribution for Pass7 data.
Documentation: (Heather) successfully updated workbook source in CVS and propagated the change to the web server. It would be nice to automate some parts of the process. At a meeting last week Tony J. volunteered to find a unix-accessible place for the served pages and to see about setting up automated updates of two types:
These measures will make maintenance less burdensome in a technical sense, but don't address other gaps left by Chuck's departure. Discussions continue..
Pass8: (Tracy) v19r3p1 is out. Test jobs are running; people are using it. (Leon) Except for Johan, who has a problem with GLASTCLASSIFYXMLPATH. (Tracy) but that problem is not new to this release.
Event displays: (Leon) plans to tackle a problem with Fred in the debugger. Something is not keeping proper track of number of events, which can cause a crash at the end of the input.
Windows SSH woes (Heather) There is no solution in sight. She tried setting the home environment variabe to a location on the D disk rather than Z, but that didn't help (neither did setting it back to Z). The known_hosts file disappeared a couple more times over the past week.
Skimmer problems (Tom G.) The two from last week are still with us: the one described in JIRA SK-41, which is a reproducible failure, and the transient problem which showed up in reprocessing. He was able to work around the latter by rerunning the jobs. (Heather) would be interested to see whether we can learn anything about this one with Valgrind.
Python 2.7.1 (Heather) It's ready to go and is now being used by ScienceTools HEAD. Awaiting any final check-out Jim might want to make before incorporating it in an ST tag.
tagCollector (Joanne) made another new version, 1.20, to support tagging along a branch since the first attempt had a bug. tagCollector documentation has been updated accordingly. This version seems to be OK; Heather has been able to use it successfully to make an SCons-compatible tag along the v17r35p23, as Tom G. had requested.
Externals path (Heather, Joanne) Joanne's script, shortenPath.py has achieved no-known-bugs status; Heather tried it out on a ROOT external for one platform. Next step will be to use it on that external for other supported platforms (or at least other Linux platforms), then update the files used during SCons builds to keep track of externals.
MySQL upgrade (Heather) contacted Arash concerning the status of the MySQL upgrade. The new hardware is still being prepared. New estimate is end of August/beginning of September.
GRBAnalysis (Joanne) Some, but not all, GRB developers have been posting updates to the new SCons-style module in CVS. Once catalog work is done the hold-outs have promised to move to the new module.
Announcements
