Core Minutes 5/21/2013ScienceTools: (Jim) No News.
FSSC: (Joe) Developed a work-around for generic sources that now allows FSSC's ST distribution to run on Ubuntu 12.4 as well as continuing to support Fedora.
Pass7 Reprocessing (Richard for Tom G.) Tom's tests for Pass8 reprocessing reveal that the processing time is still 2x that of Pass7. This did not include the latest I/O updates. The Pass7 reprocessing is ready to go once they are ordered. At the C&A meeting, it sounds like it will be a couple of weeks. Julie has scheduled a meeting to discuss the plan.
Trouble on fermilnx (Richard) Over the weekend, there was trouble accessing the MOOT MySQL databases now located on fermilnx01 and lnx02. Warren reports that we still do not know the cause, but that rebooting seems to have fixed the issue, which lasted from Sunday evening to Monday morning.
Pass8 (Leon) The new GlastRelease for Pass8 is coming along. Tracy and Stephan have been working to decrease the output ROOT file sizes. Tracy reports that we should be able to reach our goal by using ROOT's LZMA compression. Tracy has also made prgress with the processing time, but discovered those changes impacted the high energy PSF. Tracy may have a fix. (Richard) how will all these changes be validated? (Leon) The changes are more minor but there will be the standard data sets. (Heather) The data catalog cannot yet handle the LZMA compression. We need to close the loop on that with Tony.
Other news (Heather) The new GlastRelease for P8 is almost ready as we work through fixes for various unix tests. Johann has started to look again at the system tests and is trying to clean up old versions.
Release Manager (Tom S.) Updates to facilities, st_app, and some individual unit tests now allow unit tests on Windows to avoid creating pop-up windows in response to assertion failures. Instead, output is sent to stdout. The most recent ST LATEST build demonstrates this. Tom will contact Tony J to see if he can try the Windows Jenkins builds again. There is interest in adding this to GR as well, which would involve updating gr_app by introducing an #if def and 4 lines of code. For those unit tests that do not use gr_app or st_app, there may need to additional modifications as Tom has already done in ST. Jim is interested in taking a look and Tom will send him a list of packages that required modification to their unit tests.
