Core Minutes 5/5/2015
ScienceTools: (Jim) There are two new ST builds: 10-01-01 includes all new tags up to that point, in particular new gtselect behavior, and 10-00-04, the FSSC public release candidate
Pass8 upgrades to ST are complete. There is still work to do on ASP and there have been requests for ST improvements connected with 4GL.
See Science Tools Development Notes for current activity.
FSSC: (Joe) No news; no special panic concerning the new public release.
Reprocessing: (Tom) Backfill through April 7 is complete. Waiting for request for the final backfill.
Hardware: (Tom) There will be an outage today of a large number of servers for patches.
New user disk work is in progress. The configuration has been agreed upon and may be implemented by the end of this week or early next week. Then there will be a final rsync, lasting perhaps 8 hours, during which the user disk will not be available.
(Richard) New linux web servers (replacements for our old Windows web servers) have been installed in the H/A rack and are being configured.
We're not in desperate straits, but it's time to start thinking about buying more tape.
Externals upgrade (Heather) Still on hold.
WIRED (Tom) What is its status? (Heather) The WIRED program itself works; the issue is with WIRED + the web interface.
Previous attempts to update the web interface to the WIRED event display currently running GR v18r5p1 on glastlnx07 and due to run on fermilnx-v14 using a P8 version of GR have dragged on. It is unclear whether anyone is using the web interface, but there is a desire to keep it running if at all possible. Tom has suggested we just shut down glastlnx07 in the meantime. Tony would like to keep glastlnx07 going until we get this sorted out. Heather needs to actually take some time to look at the remaining issue to understand more fully why the latest version of GR, in the context of running in fermilnx-v14, fails to open the event display.
