Core Minutes 2/17/2015
ScienceTools: (Jim) A new ST tag, 10-00-00, is out. It includes all the updates for Pass8. See Science Tools Development Notes and especially this dedicated Confluence page.
Reprocessing: (Tom) The first part of the backfill covering October through January is complete. Parts two and three (merit, FT1) will soon follow. He is hopeful it will all be done by the end of this week.
Resources: (Tom) wain25, the server for the user disk, has been getting a pounding. With help from the Computer Center he was able to identify the primary culprits (i.e., users) responsible. The information provided by Nagios is not sufficient to track them down.
In about a week there will be a meeting where strategies to eliminate or lessen the impact of such incidents will be discussed: what to buy, how to deploy it, etc.
GR news: (Heather) There is a new release, 20-10-01. It does not include any externals updates. See JIRA LPATE-182 for details.
There may still be some lingering confusion over what, if anything, we need to do about the new fsw release. The discussion can be viewed in JIRA EXTLIB-15.
RM scheduling (Joanne) The question has come up — not for the first time — whether it is possible to keep RM automated builds while avoiding conflict with the occasional manual trigger. With the current implementation, the answer is no. One could lessen the chance of a collision, but not eliminate it entirely, by increasing the interval between checks for new tags requiring builds done by the automated system. However as that interval becomes longer the automated builds are less timely and manual triggers become increasingly necessary. See JIRA RM 40 .
Announcements (Richard) In a couple weeks Jim Panetta will be leaving to join the start-up Zoox, engaged in developing a driverless car. If you need anything from him, ask now! His Fermi duties will be taken over by Steve Tether.
