MySQL Project Status
Installations
- A test MySql database and its server, mysqld
were built from sources and installed
on a SLAC Linux machine last month. No problems have arisen yet,
under admittedly light use by Tony Waite and me.
- A client-only binary distribution has been installed on a Solaris
machine and an NT box. It contains several executables, including
one to support interactive SQL sessions, and a client library and
associated include files for building user clients. I've used
the interactive SQL program from both machines with no problems.
First Application: Tracker Strip Status Bits
- I've made summary and data tables via an SQL script for hot and
dead strips.
- I've written a couple little stand-alone programs linked against the
MySQL client library for adding lists of hot or dead channels and
have used them to insert Taka's lists for the testbeam run.
Notes
- The stand-alone programs are not in the form
we would want for a production system, but are close to good enough
for testbeam.
-
The Windows
source is not normally available for non-paying customers, and the
build as distributed is done with VC++ 5.0.
Hence there may be a bit of extra work to do to link our own client
application against the MySQL client library on NT, but I'm confident
it can be dealt with one way or another.
