Need to know form of metadata database (default is MySQL) and values of parameters associated with connecting to it. For MySQL just hostname is probably adequate; other configuration parameters such as port will never change.
List all calibrations for a given instrument of a particular type, optionally with validity interval intersecting specified time interval or containing specified timestamp.
There needs to be some, probably orthogonal, way to select which columns will be output.
Perhaps need a separate cache of cuts
Register a calibration. Prompt for all information that needs to be supplied, showing defaults where applicable.
