Core Minutes 12/3/2013
FSSC: (Joe) is working on PyFITS.
Pass8 Reprocessing: (Tom G.) P8 reprocessing is done through June, 2013; FITS files have been created and are being ingested into the astroserver. L & EO, not yet started, will be coming soon.
Pass8 and Calibrations (Leon) Using different alignment calibrations for simulation and recon stages of MC we get good agreement with data. There are still issues to be addressed for ToT and ACD calibrations.
People would like to think discrepancies are due to problems in G4, e.g. handling backsplash. The plan is to beat on these problems for a couple weeks, then tag a new GR with optimum job options (we can't wait any longer than that). (Heather) There has been some sentiment for upgrading G4; what about trying that? (Leon) Maybe at some point, but moving to a new version of G4 is not compatible with the 2-week deadline.
(Leon) Luca Baldini would like a way to examine TKR calibrations stored in ROOT files: ToT and possibly also charge scale calibrations. A stand-alone method (e.g. to make plots) would be preferable to trying to do it from Gleam. Joanne (who wrote but has since forgotten about the calibration code which reads these files) and Heather (ROOT expert extraordinaire) are likely suspects.
Mountain Lion (Tom S.) Yemi has been alerted to the problem, but no progress yet on reaching the CVS repository from our new Mac. He might just need a little more time post-holidays to get to it.
Meanwhile, Tom is working through the Python external. Several packages installed just fine with pip, but not SciPy. He'll try installing manually.
Announcements
File server outage (Tom G.) Fermi file servers will be rebooted late tomorrow morning to pick up software patches. Watch for a formal announcement.
