Core Minutes 11/11/2014
ScienceTools: (Jim) No news.
FSSC: (Joe) Mavericks builds are now working. The new Mac OS Yosemite is next on the agenda.
Reprocessing: (Tom G.) No news since last time (caught up through September).
Hardware: (Tom) The two new servers are being configured. 3/4 of the space will be devoted to xroot; the remainder will be NFS running on top of GPFS, a new adventure.
Pass8: (Leon) The first attempt at comparing Pass7/Pass8 reconstruction (on MC events generated by Pass8) failed immediately: Pass7 could make no sense of the input. Heather determined that the clash of ROOT versions (5.26 for Pass7; 5.34 for Pass8) is the likely culprit: ROOT 5.26 cannot read the file; ROOT 5.34 can. She will make a new Pass7 release with ROOT 5.34 and we'll try again.
Mac (Joanne) made an intimidating table of work to be done to support RM builds via Jenkins in the Mavericks VM. Several of the steps should not be especially difficult. Still, there are a lot of them, and some could be troublesome. (Joe) can provide some hints from FSSC experience, especially for building externals. ST itself built without much special handling.
rhel6 validation & obf crash (Joanne) Johan managed to find a configuration and run where the crash occurs on the first event. See details in JIRA LPATE-178. This should make it easier to investigate with gdb. Joanne hopes to tackle this soon; that is, sooner then embarking on further Mac VM work since there is general agreement it has higher priority.
Windows has not faded away (Heather) Bill contacted me about developing on UW fermi.. he was having his semi-annual GoGui troubles. I think the main problem was permissions on his supersede directory.. He has further troubles building AnaTup so I'll try to look at that later today.
glastlnx07 (Heather) As has been said before — it needs to be retired, which means we need to get WIRED working elsewhere. She's hoping to look into it this week.
Announcements Richard is leaving Friday for some weeks on the other side of the world (Melbourne and the coast road; Tasmania). He'll return on Dec. 7.
