Core Minutes 10/14/2014
ScienceTools: (Jim) fixed a bug affecting gtsrcmaps when test energy was out of bounds. See Science Tools Development Notes for details.
Reprocessing: (Tom G.) The first stage of the new backfill (covering May 1 - Sept. 30) is about 60% done.
Hardware: (Tom) Last week Tony cleaned up old files in xroot, something which hadn't been done for a while. He recovered 100 Tbytes! That takes the pressure off, even if it takes a while longer for the new servers to come online. We (Fermi Offline + SCS) came to no conclusion regarding NFS... hope to meet again possibly later this week to discuss use of the new server
(Richard) The glast-ground web site is implemented with a web access redirector fronting two old (10 years!) windows servers, glast-win01, and glast-win02, running IIS. We've been in discussion with SCS about getting away from IIS. Brian wants NGINX, apparently an Apache replacement option. Of course we will also buy new servers.
Pass8: (Leon) C&A has been focused on getting ready for the Symposium. See details on the weekly meeting page.
Workbook decay (Heather) Tutorials are out of date, especially the examples. It's unlikely we could summon resources to fix. Should we instead depend on the FSSC doc? Is that sufficient? (Jim) The FSSC doc is generally fine for Science Tools and is maintained. We still need to provide SLAC-specific information, such as how one uses computers here.
Actions for now: we will direct Science Tools users to FSSC doc when appropriate. Heather will sift through remainder of Workbook to determine what else needs to be kept up, probably by moving to Confluence.
New flight software build (Heather) Jim Panetta has asked for our help in making a new fsw external based on the new release of of Flight Software (3-2-0) being uploaded to the LAT. She's hopeful this will not require a new obf external but needs to confirm that the Flight Software updates don't affect filters. [Has since been confirmed.]
rhel6 validation (Heather) Johan's validation work has run into an unpleasant glitch: infrequent (i.e., after 1000 events or more), but not that infrequent, crashes in all-gamma runs. The traceback points into the obf external. Heather has created a Confluence page to tie together everything relevant to the GR validation effort on RHEL6-64. (Joanne) will see if JJ has any ideas.
Mac VM (Joanne) After a couple visits from SCS and corrected miscommunications, all user accounts are set up on the Mavericks VM (as well as the Mountain Lion host) and, we believe, are capable of starting up the VM. The next step is to get the VM started by the host whenever it reboots (currently the VM is only up as long as the account launching it stays logged in). I think we have all the pieces to do this but it will take some time and effort to get it going.
