MRK421 is observed as a normal program source in the OVRO 40M blazar monitoring program. The 40M Telescope is equipped with a direct detection receiver using a cryogenic HEMT LNA. Receiver gain fluctuations are removed by Dicke switching at 500 Hz between dual azimuthally-separated off-axis beams, one containing the source and the other used as a cold sky reference field. To remove atmospheric fluctuations, the source is switched between the two beams in an A-B-B-A sequence. Four 8-second integrations are combined for the total 32 second duration quoted; the remaining time between the start/stop times is overhead for telescope slewing to move the source between beams. Pointing for normal program sources is achieved using a blind pointing model based on encoder readings and tilt sensors mounted on the telescope, plus a local correction measured by peaking up on a pointing calibrator source. Pointing corrections are measured at least once per hour and used only within 15 degrees on the sky.
